The S-CARS.ORG Sales & Valuation Database is being built from actual purchase and sale information contributed by owners, buyers, sellers, dealers, auction results and other documented market sources.

Our goal is to provide a more useful picture of the S-car market than can be obtained from public auction results alone.

Many enthusiast cars change hands privately and never appear on Bring a Trailer, Cars & Bids or other public marketplaces. By combining verified private-party transactions with dealer sales, auction results and historical owner submissions, we can begin to see how these cars are actually trading across different markets.

Protecting Contributor Privacy

The public valuation database is intentionally anonymous.

S-CARS.ORG requires a full VIN when a transaction is submitted because VIN information allows us to identify duplicate submissions, track repeat sales of the same vehicle and maintain the accuracy of the underlying database.

Full VINs are never displayed in the public valuation data.

Private condition photographs, sales documentation and other identifying material are also never displayed publicly.

Public market information is presented as anonymized or aggregated sales data rather than as a searchable history of individual vehicles.

Understanding the Numbers

Collector-car values can vary substantially even among vehicles of the same model and year.

Mileage is important, but so are:

Overall condition
Mechanical condition
Originality
Service history
Accident or rust history
Color and specification
Modifications
Geographic market
Sale venue

For this reason, a single sale should never be treated as definitive proof of what every comparable vehicle is worth.

The S-CARS.ORG database becomes more useful as the number of recorded transactions increases. Where there is not enough data to support a meaningful conclusion, certain statistics may be limited or identified as having an insufficient sample size.

Average vs. Median Value

You may see both average and median sale values in the database.

The average is calculated by adding all qualifying sale prices together and dividing by the number of transactions.

The median represents the middle transaction when the sales are arranged from lowest to highest.

For collector vehicles, the median can often be particularly useful because one exceptionally high or low transaction can significantly affect an average.

Verified and Reported Transactions

Not every recorded transaction has the same level of supporting evidence.

Some transactions may be supported by reviewed sales documentation, independently reported by both the buyer and seller, or confirmed through a public auction or dealer listing.

Others may represent historical or owner-reported sales where supporting documentation is no longer available.

S-CARS.ORG retains this verification information internally so that higher-confidence transactions can be distinguished from less-documented historical data.

The public market database itself remains international and may include sales from the United States, Canada, Europe, the United Kingdom and other markets.
