S-CARS Sales & Valuation Database

Help Us Build a Better Picture of the S-Car Market

What is an Audi S4, S6, S6 Avant, S2 or RS2 actually worth?

For enthusiast cars like ours, that’s often a surprisingly difficult question to answer. Public auction results tell only part of the story. Many cars change hands privately, some are sold by specialty dealers, and others never appear on the major auction sites at all. Condition, mileage, color, originality and service history can also make enormous differences in value.

The S-CARS.ORG Sales & Valuation Database is intended to build a long-term, community-supported record of actual S-car transactions.

If you have bought or sold an S-car, recently or years ago, we invite you to submit the transaction below.

What Happens to the Information?

Approved transactions become part of the S-CARS.ORG market database and help us calculate market trends, median and average values, mileage-related values, model and model-year comparisons, color trends and other useful statistics.

Your individual vehicle and transaction will not be publicly identified.

The public side of the database uses anonymized and aggregated information to illustrate the market. It is not intended to become a public VIN lookup or vehicle sales-history service.

Why Do We Ask for the VIN?

A complete VIN is required when submitting a transaction.

The VIN allows S-CARS.ORG to determine whether a vehicle is already represented in the database, distinguish different cars with similar specifications, identify repeat sales of the same vehicle, and prevent duplicate transactions from distorting market values.

Full VINs are retained privately and are never displayed in the public S-CARS.ORG market database.

VIN-level information may be used internally by S-CARS.ORG for historical research and professional/expert vehicle valuation work.

Sale Verification

Whenever possible, we encourage contributors to provide documentation supporting the reported transaction price.

This might include a bill of sale, dealer purchase agreement, auction result, insurance settlement document or similar evidence of the transaction amount.

Providing documentation is optional, but a documented transaction can be classified as a verified sale and may carry greater weight when evaluating market data.

Please redact names, addresses, telephone numbers, account numbers, signatures and other unnecessary personal information before uploading a document.

Supporting sales documentation is available only to S-CARS.ORG administrators. Once the transaction has been reviewed and verified, the supporting document is permanently deleted. The database retains only a record indicating that documentation was reviewed and the transaction was verified.

Vehicle Condition Photos

Sale price alone doesn’t tell the whole story.

A 200,000-mile driver and a beautifully preserved 70,000-mile example shouldn’t be treated as equivalent sales simply because they’re the same model and year.

You may therefore submit up to:

2 exterior photographs
2 interior photographs
2 engine-compartment photographs
1 additional photograph

These photographs help S-CARS.ORG administrators evaluate the vehicle’s condition at the time of the transaction.

Submitted condition photographs are retained privately for research purposes and are never displayed publicly.

Good photographs are especially helpful for older transactions where written descriptions may not adequately convey the condition of the car.

What Sales Can Be Submitted?

We’re interested in more than recent online auctions.

You can submit a:

Private-party purchase or sale
Dealer purchase or sale
Online auction sale
Live auction sale
Insurance total-loss settlement
Estate or other documented transaction

Historical transactions are welcome, too. If you bought your S4 in 2003 and remember what you paid, that information can help us build a much longer view of the S-car market.

If a vehicle has changed hands multiple times, each legitimate transaction is valuable. The VIN allows us to associate those transactions with the same vehicle internally without exposing that vehicle’s history publicly.

Buyer and Seller Submissions

Both buyers and sellers are welcome to submit transaction information.

If the same sale is independently submitted by both parties, S-CARS.ORG may recognize the matching records and use the two submissions to corroborate the transaction rather than counting it twice.

Accuracy Matters

This project becomes more useful as participation grows—but the quality of the information matters just as much as the quantity.

Please provide the most accurate information you reasonably can. If you aren’t certain about a particular detail, it’s better to indicate that it’s unknown than to guess.

The goal isn’t to prove that our cars are worth a particular amount. It’s to build an objective historical record of what these cars are actually changing hands for.

Over time, that should give S-car owners, prospective buyers, sellers, insurers and enthusiasts a considerably better understanding of the market.

Submit a Transaction

Use the form below to contribute a purchase or sale to the S-CARS.ORG Sales & Valuation Database.

Your VIN, submitted photographs and supporting documentation are not displayed publicly.

Confidential submission

Your full VIN is required to identify repeat sales and protect the integrity of the database. VINs, individual vehicle sales, submitted photos, supporting documents and submitter information are not displayed publicly. Public market tools use anonymized and aggregated data only.

Supporting sales documents are optional. If provided, an administrator will review them to verify the transaction amount and then delete the document. Condition photos are retained privately for future valuation research and are visible only to administrators.

Vehicle

Transaction

Sales from anywhere in the world are welcome. Enter the actual transaction currency and country. For non-USD transactions, a USD equivalent at the time of sale helps us make meaningful cross-market comparisons.

Vehicle status matters: please identify whether the car was complete and running, complete but non-running, or a parts/incomplete vehicle. Non-running and parts-car transactions are tracked separately so they do not distort normal complete-vehicle valuations.

Condition

Condition photos — private/admin only

Upload up to 2 exterior, 2 interior, 2 engine-compartment and 1 other photo. JPG, PNG and WebP files are accepted, up to 6 MB each. These are retained privately to help S-CARS.ORG assess condition and are never shown publicly.

Optional transaction verification

You may upload a bill of sale, purchase agreement, dealer invoice, auction result, insurance settlement or similar record showing the transaction amount. Please redact names, addresses, account numbers, signatures and other unnecessary personal information. JPG, PNG, WebP and PDF files are accepted, up to 10 MB each. The document will be deleted after administrator review.

Submitter

During upload, please leave this page open. If a security service blocks the request, your entered text will remain on the page so you can retry.
