I’ve been dealing with a similar issue myself. I assume you replaced all your coils with original Beru coil units AND boots?

How many miles on your Avant? Have you ever replaced the power output stages on the firewall?

Mine’s not a smell like hot coolant – just a hot smell as if it was starting to overheat a bit. I already replaced the expansion tank which had a slow leak so I know that smell. Let us know what you find.

I also just replaced that 6″ long hose that connects to the hard line behind timing belt cover which feeds the turbo coolant. It is actually 10mm ID high temp hose but I got 7/16″ ID high temp transmission hose from local auto parts store and it works fine. As far as the burning oil […]

I do think mine is somehow trans fluid related as it is a rather pungent smell. Not a hot/sweet smell like engine coolant. If yours smell like hot coolant, check the lines under the intake manifold. I did a timing belt job on a friend’s S6 once upon a time and when we were done […]

Mine just smells hot since i changed the thermostat back to the original temp. Am waiting to see if it goes away after awhile. If you find a sneaky drip, let us know where it is so we can look too.
